How to Keep your Bedroom Clean

The pleasure of sleeping in a clean bedroom is unfathomable. Imagine changing into a clean and nice smelling pajama, climbing into bed, and closing your eyes to bliss. This is the reality for those of us who take the time to keep their sleeping quarters in a clean state. Finding your bed buried under a pile of dirty laundry, with crumbs all over your pillow doesn’t sound appealing in the least. The pleasure of sleeping is diminished if you have to jump over numerous obstacles to reach your bed. Your bed should be considered your island. The only place you have to truly relax. I have identified the four most common pitfalls when it comes to bedrooms. Do you want to change the way you view your bedroom? Read more to find out.

· No Eating rule

If you establish the "no eating in bed" rule, you will reduce the time spent cleaning your room. Food should belong only in the kitchen or dining room on special occasions. I know reading and eating simultaneously is enjoyable (that’s why I sometimes do it) but the crumbs are just not worth it. Sleeping on sheets saturated with cookie crumbs is itchy and annoying. If you have young children who bring in their Sippy cup to your bed, then you can establish the rule to them in a clear fashion. You might want to read up on parenting books if you need help in this area.

· Clean Laundry

After you do a wash it is tempting to dump the entire load on the nearest bed to be dealt with later. However this is the way of the lazy. Smart people who are efficient in their use of time do the things they need to at the earliest time available. Folding the laundry when it comes out of the dryer also has the benefit of fewer creases. Save yourself time spent ironing shirts by folding them right when they come out of the wash.

· Dirty laundry

When it’s late at night and you’re tired of a full day at work it is oh so tempting to throw your laundry at a pile at the foot of your bed. Who has the energy to sort the dirty form the clean and throw it in the hamper? But if you do go and take the effort to put it where it belongs you will be rewarded with a clean bedroom.

· Vacuuming the Floor

Keeping the floor and surfaces clean requires the use of a bagless canister vacuum cleaner. The bagless canister vacuum cleaner suctions the dust and dirt right off the floor. There are different models available in several different price ranges. Find the one that suits your lifestyle and budget.

Here's another pitfall: pets in the bed. We relegate our dog and cats to the basement at night, but they still like to sneak onto the bed during the day and leave hair all over everything. Yuck.

You are right. I hate when the pets crawl into bed and leave evidence behind. If only they would stay where they belong!
