How to Clean your Bedroom in 3 Easy Steps

Cleaning your bedroom need not be the big job it is. You can wash the room and clean your beds in small ways and make a big change.

· Linen Washing

Start by stripping the linens and washing them in the wash. You can use warm water if the fabric allows it. Most delicate fabrics require cold water and a delicate soap. You can use a fabric softener if the fabric allows it. I love using the downy fabric softener sheets in the dryer they come out of the dryer smelling yummy and clean. There are generic brands for all the soaps and fabric softeners if you would like to save some money.

· Vacuum the floors

You can use the bagless canister vacuum cleaner hose for the floors and then use one of the attachments to clean the mattress. The mattress usually has lots of dust hiding in the crevices and if I’m cleaning anyway, I might as well do it right. If you have any drapes and window treatments that have dust accumulated, you can clean them with the bagless canister vacuum cleaner. Lots of newer models come with specific attachments for each task.

· Wash the floor

Depending on what type of floor covering you have you can then wash the floor. If you have carpet across the room, then just skip this step. If you have wood floors, laminate or stone then you can go ahead and wash them. Wood floors are sensitive and require either a specially formulated wood floor cleaner or a rag dipped into a solution of vinegar and water. If you have laminate floor you can use any old soap you have in the house. I use the Mr. Clean brand as I just love that smell. Floors made of stone should be washed with minimal soap and water. When you use a rag to wash the floor you might find it handy to keep one dry one next to you. When you finish cleaning you then whip out your clean and dry rag and dry the floor.

· Mirrors and Windows

Mirrors and window use a special soap. I use Windex and absorbent paper towel to wash all windows and mirrors in my home. The reusable rags are simply not as absorbent and they leave nasty streaks across the window pane. The absorbent paper towels are also a handy item to keep around the house for quick cleanup.
